The "Coyl" in Coylton comes from Old King Cole (Coel Hen 350-420), probably the last Roman Dux Brittanniarum, who camped by the Water of Coyle. For information about Coylton and its history see http://fp.ayrshireroots.plus.com/Towns/Coylton/Coylton.htm and http://www.ayrshirehistory.org.uk/Shorts/finlayson.htm

Prestwick airport (Glasgow Prestwick - PIK) is nearby. Prestwick and Ayr are on the rail line from Glasgow Central (with a bus link from Glasgow Airport to Paisley Station). Driving from England on the M74 take the A70 exit at Douglas and follow the road to Coylton. Driving from Glasgow, the A77 is being superseded by the M77.

From Ayr take the A70 Cumnock Road and head towards Coylton. On entering Coylton on Ayr Road, continue along taking 4th right into Hole Road. This is after the Post Office (on the RH side) and at some traffic lights. Take left into Highpark Road and Springs Park is second right.
